45.. Thought I’d never get here.. August 28th, 2006

Twenty years ago I thought I’d never hit 45 based on what I was doing and where I was. Well, yesterday I did it. I finished my 45th year on this planet!

It was a realatively quiet day, first I went into work for a couple of hours to clean up a couple of projects I was working on last week, then I went and saw Pirates of the Caribbean:Dead Man’s Chest, which was good, but I still liked the first one better. It did have some interesting twist to it though! And the ending left hope for a third one that will probably be good as well. (One can hope right?)

After that, my boss at Interactive Digital Multi-Media, Inc. (the Founder and CEO), found out it was my birthday, so he took me out to dinner and drinks afterwards, visiting with a few very pretty ladies. :)

Did get a call from my Mother, but was in the middle of eating so we didn’t chat long. I would have called back, but by the time my boss and I were done, it was too late to call back…

Over all, not bad, no physical cards, and only three (none from family) ecards, but that’s cool…

Finished!! August 26th, 2006

Ok, here I can get in trouble. I work for a company (as President/COO of Interactive Digital Multi-Media, Inc (Formerly AV Books, Inc.) that just digitized Complete Idiot\'s Guide to Learning Spanish, 4th Edition (Complete Idiot\'s Guide to) (the CD at the back of the book), so I should press that this book is great, so you go out and buy it and I make some money.

But I can’t fully say that. (The CD at the back is all that saves it though. ;) ) This book is OK. Over all, I’m sure it could be a great tool for some wanting to learn Spanish, and I agree with the over all principals of learning that Mrs. Stein talks about, but it just seems a bit dry to me. (Now, I have to admit I’ve been trying to learn Spanish for MANY years, and I do speak English (American style, native of course), Korean and German, so it’s not 100% a learning disability. I think it’s my living in El Paso Texas too much, and having everyone try to speak Spanish to me in a US store….)

It is a book, mainly because of the CD at the back, that I would recommend as a tool to help you learn Spanish, but there are other books and tools you should probably get too.

Did I learn any more Spanish? No, but I think I have a mental block about learning Spanish.. I’ll get over it…

A scammer hits close to home. August 11th, 2006

My sister has heard of the great success of people finding their true love on the Net, and has been checking it out herself. A couple of months ago, she meet a guy by the name of James Paul via a match making web site and they started chatting. They became very close, without having meet, the guy’s story was compleing, and they began talking marriage and happiness together.

Seems the guy was in Africa, from Dallas, working for Shell. Seems Nigeria (WARNING ALARMS!) doesn’t cash “out of state” checks, so he asked Jennifer if she would cash a check for him and send it to him via Western Union.

When the check came in, it came in with an interesting letter and the name of James Williams to send the cash to, via Western Union. I called the bank that the cashier’s check was written on before she tried to cash it, at his request at a “fast cash store”, and of course it was not a valid check, in fact it wasn’t even the right check number series for that bank. The check was for $4,500 US.

When she confronted him by SMS on the cell phone, of course he was “insulted”, wanted to know why she was insulting him, then it turned to shock that his client, that was sending the check (which, by the way was sent from Nigeria as well, not form a client in the US as he said it would) would send him a bad check. After she pushed back on him some and explained that I was looking into it for her, and that I wasn’t getting positive information on the check, the cell phone number he uses (I tracked it down to a block of numbers in Nigeria that are suspected of being part of a large ring of scammers), and a few other areas I’ve looked into, he changed his tune to “sorry, I tried calling my client, and can’t reach him.” Shortly there after, using his Yahoo Instant Messenger ID (jamespaul328 (or something like that, I deleted it already)) and requesting a connection, he tells Jennifer that he had been booted from Yahoo and couldn’t get to his instant messenger. (I did some checking around, and he had been on IM with someone in New York from about 0030 hours to about 0400 hours using that same IM name.)

When she get’s another follow up message from him, via her cell phone and SMS, he tells here that she should forget him till he can come back to the states and make it right.

Why do people mess with peoples emotions like this? My sister is now heart broken, extremly sad, and just plain not happy about life at the moment. It is not fair to her!

A Chapter in my Life … August 9th, 2006

… ended yesterday. Actually it probably ended back in February of 2005, but I wouldn’t let it. Someone I care for a lot broke off our close relationship back in February 2005, and I THOUGHT we were still friends. That all ended yesterday in a rather harsh way.

I still care for this person, but it is fairly obvious that she doesn’t have ANY (positive anyway) feelings left. I feel that most of her issues deal with lack of bi-directional communications. It appears that for the past year, there was only one direction of communication, from me to her, with very little coming back (should have been a clue to me to move on 100%…).

Life happens, and I guess I move on, but it sure is a hard one!

Time to focus and center again. ;)

Aho Polly!

Hate doing this… August 8th, 2006

I really, REALLY, hate doing this, as it will potentially increase the competition, but I have to let you all know about a site that I HIGHLY recommend. That site is InBubbleWrap.com.

At this site, Monday through Friday, InBubbleWrapGuy offers several copies of a “new” book. (May be an older book, but is still new!) What do you have to do to get it? Answer two silly questions, and be one of the “better” answers (or it may be a random drawing as I won a couple of the books, and my answers CAN’T be all that good…). That’s it!

I know it works, as I have won a few of the books, and they have been great books too!

And, yes, they do come wrapped in bubble wrap, so, after you remove your book, you get to pop those little bubbles!! YEAH!!

Enjoy!

Centering August 7th, 2006

Many people do not live a centered life, and living a centered life is important.

What is a centered life? Good question! To me, a centered life is one in which the following areas are equally shared:

Physical (exercise, eating correctly, etc.)
Mental (expanding the mind, and not by drugs)
Social (Significant other, interaction with others)

If one were to be active in these three areas, their emotional aspects of life will be positive, and they would be living a fairly centered life.

All of this needs to be balanced with the need to earn protection (housing/clothing/etc), sustenance (food/drink/etc), and cash in general to cover the various needs above.

So, your goal in life is find the job you LIKE doing that you are happy to get up in the early in the morning to exercise, eat right (Physical) then head into work, and that allows you to interact (social needs) with those around you. In the evening read that book (it has been found that your reading is comprehended better if read right before sleeping) to expand your mind (Mental).

If you aren’t working the job you like, you will find that you are not centered, and are lacking one or more areas needed to be centered in life.

Find that job that you like to be doing! It is key to the rest of your life! If you don’t like your job, begin looking for the right job, it’s out there for you, you just have to look! Also, till you find it, do what you can to make the job you are currently in better for you!
