My ramblings as I move forward in my life Journey.

Black Falcon – A Book Review

Last weekend I was at the Miami International Book Faire for my job. We were introducing our new book technologies, selling our books and meeting Authors, Publishers, and Clients. In the process I met Chevy Alden, Author of Black Falcon and two books on self-publishing.

The book was a good read for the most part and I give it 4 out of 5 stars! The missing star is for the ending, it wasn’t quite how I would have ended it, but the over all effect was good. It is a book I would recommend to anyone that likes a good adventure novel!

That time of year again.

Ok, Santa came across the screen yesterday at the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade, so it’s officially (in my eye) the Christmas Season. Not that many people wait for that to happen as they use to. Things started popping up here in South Florida about a month and a half ago.

I still don’t like this time of year, aside from the music, as I very strongly feel that it is no longer in context of what it was started for. Aside from that, we are shown by history that Christ was actually born in June or July (from my vague memory of reading the text on that research), so why are we celebrating his birth in December?

We are WAY too commercial in our celebration of this season. Let’s get back to what the season is supposed to be about. I’m even not overly into the gift giving at the level it’s grown up to! Let’s get back to celebrating the gift of life (of Christ) and the growth of a new year, not the gift giving and hard feelings.

Commitment

Since February I have been working with a few groups of people that have made SEVERAL “firm” commitments. By several I am talking about over 15. All dealing with funding a company by a certain time frame, and to do certain other tasks as related to said funding of the company. Now based on each of those commitments based on “firm” completion dates, both in writing and verbally, I have made “firm” commitments both in business and personally.

As time progressed, each of the commitment time frames made by these individuals passed by without completion of the commitment! All of my commitments to these folks were met on time, as requested/agreed upon, so that isn’t a reason for their commitments to fall through. When I tried to find out what was going on I got no response or “why are you bothering me” type of responses!

It amazes me that people in the line of work I am dealing with behave and perform this way! How do they stay in business? How do the businesses they do business with survive!? And they act like I’m the bad guy for asking why things are not coming together AS PROMISED by these folks!?

Folks, if you make a verbal or written commitment, TRY to make it happen!! Or don’t make the commitment to begin with! The other side will go on what you write and say, and will act on that. They shouldn’t be expected to figure it won’t work and try other things concurrently!

WAKE UP WORLD, we seem to be falling apart at the seams here!
