      Augustine, Confessions
Author: Saint, Bishop of Hippo Augustine
      Rating: 5
Review: First, this book is not for the light hearted. In reading it, one needs time, and patience. Saint Augustine started his life with his mother's direction towards Christ, but as he grew up, he took himself down paths leading away from Christ. He allowed his body and mind to rule his life for many years. During this time, Jesus sent him many chances to change his ways, but he continued to investigate other paths. His Mother persisted with God in prayer to allow her son to find and accept Him. Once Saint Augustine came to see the truth in God's Word, and was unable to find truth in his wanderings and searches prior to this, his life began to change for the better, but was still rough for him. His desire for the pleasures of the body remained with him, but he found through Christ the will to withstand those desires. His interpretations of the Bible lead him to more questions within himself, which he turned to God to answer. In reading Book 12, chapters 30-32 of his confessions, he made a comment that opened up a light in my understanding of the Scriptures and other peoples understandings. In this section he makes comment that, and I paraphrase, what I read as true in a section of Scripture, someone else may read as true in a different light. Both of us are correct if it is true to God's will and meaning. I translated that for me as to listen to how other people read and translate the Scriptures and learn to incorporate their learning into my learning, and not to say their words are wrong and mine are right, but that both may be right from different angles. Saint Augustine's life story shows us that everyone can be saved and brought to go through persistence and love.

Review: A very enlightening book on the dogma and thought processes of the Roman Catholic Church. This is a must read for every Catholic person in the world, as well as every non-Catholic person of any religion! There is much in this book that I bet many "practicing" Catholics are not aware of. Please read, one and all!

Review: A very good book, that I highly recommend to everyone. Some of the practices recommended here don't work as well today has they probably did in 2000, but over all, worth looking into and adding parts or most of the book to your tools for job hunting!

Give Support! December 29th, 2006

I meet Jay on a blog (never really have talked to him, but have watched his videos, followed his quest to loose weight and stop smoking, and commented a couple of times) and have found his plight to be common, and hard. (I’m going through some of the same issues, minus the smoking.)

Please go check out his blog and give him some badly needed support! He’s in need of support as we all are!

Hope you guys and gals go over there and help him out!

New Car December 29th, 2006

Well as I stated in my post on the 27th of December, I finally replaced my

with my new

Don’t you think this looks more business like? I do, and it rides VERY nicely! Needs a new paint job, and a few dents taken out, but other than that, she has less the 26K miles on her, is a 2002, and looks to be fairly well taken care of.
I’m happy with her! And I hope to keep her a while, meaning I plan on taking good care of her!

Year in review, next year at a glance, goals wise. December 27th, 2006

Well,

I didn’t post my goals for this past year, but they were basically:

1. Lose weight, with the over all goal being 210lbs, from a starting weight of about 300lbs.
Status: Down to 248 as of last night.
2. Raise $500K for the company I run, Interactive Digital Multimedia, Inc.
Status: We have raise $100K, and the rest is pending on a certain event happening, which SHOULD be ANY day now (although I’ve been saying that since June…).
3. Exchange my Jeep for a car that is more business like, and better of fuel
Status: Friday of last week, I acquired said car. (Once I get my camera found, I will take a picture of it, or two, and post it here on the blog, with the details. )
4. Write a book.
Status: Well, I wrote a few paragraphs on it… Not happy with myself on this one, if I SIT DOWN AND DO IT, it will get done. I have it pretty well mapped out in my brain, and actually have two books worked out. Just need to buckel down and do it!

Goals for 2007

1. Continue the march to 210 lbs, hitting it this year.
2. WRITE the first book, and start, if not finish, the second book, getting the first published by Interactive Digital Multimedia, Inc.
3. Re-establish some connections from the past.

A Tradition December 24th, 2006

Ever year I’m not around family, I tend to go to a movie on Christmas Eve and Christmas Day. Today was no exception.

I went to see Casino Royale. I went into this movie mainly to see how the new guy did. I had low expectations.

The movie started out without the “naked girls” that is characteristic of Bond movies. That lowered my expectations of the movie following form/etc.

All that said, this movie was EXCELENT! The acting was good, the plot line was good, and it VERY closely followed the book, although in modern time vs the time frame of the original book by Ian Flemming. The gagetry of the original “series” of movies is gone, for the most part, and he goes on wit and readily available tech, not super tech.

This movie was well worth the ever growing cost of going to a movie! I highly recommend it!

Merry Christmas! December 24th, 2006

Well, its Christmas Eve day. This past year has flown by for me. Doesn’t feel like it should be Christmas already, and it just plain doesn’t feel like Christmas. Here in South Florida a lot of places didn’t even put up Christmas decorations. (I never do myself…) Yesterday it was 90 degrees here. That probably didn’t help me Christmassy mood any…

I did take Kodi to the mall for a walk, not thinking about the potential for crowds (it didn’t feel like two days before Christmas, so I wasn’t thinking, what can I say?), and after about 20 minutes of looking for a place to park, we finally went in. (I almost said “Let’s go home Kodi!) The mall was PACKED! But, it really didn’t have the Christmas feel (other than all the people, and it’s never been that busy when I’ve gone before) as it didn’t have a lot of decorations up, and just didn’t feel Christmassy there.

Well, all that said:

MERRY CHRISTMAS!

And a Happy New Year!

Cursing… December 9th, 2006

I am an avid blogger in the sense that I post sometimes on three or four blogs I have “ownership” of, and I read SEVERAL blogs regularly directly and several indirectly through BlogExplosion.

What I find baffling is the need for some of these people to curse with every other word like it makes them special! News for those of you that do that, it makes you special alright!! Just not in a good way!

Now don’t get me wrong, I curse just like a sailor at times, but to do it in writing and heavily for the world to review just doesn’t make sense to me. Now, cursing is just words, and probably shouldn’t be a bad thing, but when the intent is to be bad, it is bad…

World of Warcraft December 8th, 2006

A good friend of mine introduced me to the game World of Warcraft. This game has some pretty good graphics, interactive movement, and over all decent theme. The game is ADDICTIVE! (Thanks BB!!) In the little over a week I’ve been there, I’ve been able to level up to the 20th level, as a Human Mage, and am liking the game. I’ve selected Herbalogy and Alchemey as my added skills, so I can may my own potions and such. Kinda handy!

Any way, if you are a Gamer and want to interact with others, or enjoy playing on your own, go check it out at http://www.worldofwarcraft.com/, you will enjoy it a lot!! But be ready to get hooked on it!
