A Listening Church: Autonomy and Communion in African Churches
Author: Elochukwu E. Uzukwu
Rating: 5
Review: This book looks at religion on a regional basis. The Author is one of the first African's I've read or heard from that places as much blame on slavery on his own people and Europeans as he does on the Americans. He goes into detail on how he would like to see the Catholic Church improve their presence in Africa by allowing the traditions and history of Africa show within the Liturgy of the Church. I fully agree with his concepts and feel that the Church should do so across all of it's areas!
Cross-Ways a Book of Inspiration: A Book of Inspiration
Author: Fulton J. Sheen
Rating: 3
Review: While this book enlightened me on the legitimacy of "complaining" to Christ, the book over all was kinda a let down to the rest of the works I've read by Bishop Sheen. Has some great pictures in it though.
So You Built It And They Didn't Come. Now What?
Author: Jackie Bassett
Rating: 5
Review: Ms. Bassett wrote a great book! She doesn't pull punchs, and I hope many many people buy her book that are interested in starting, or have started a business! Even if you haven't ran into problems yet, this is a must read, to keep you from running into those problems! Well worth the read!
My Mother FINALLY got me LAST YEARS (2005) pictures of my sons:
My X Wife sends my parents the pictures every year (but she forgets me), although she forgot last year. I miss my kids and would love to see them again (and I have unlimited visitation rights, but she does things to make sure I can’t see them), and plan on seeing them soon! Marc first as he turns 18 this year, and I will see him this summer, and Jonathon in a couple of years when he turns 18, unless he comes to me first of course!
(Sorry for the pour quality of the picture, it is a scan of a “photo copy” of the pictures sent to my Mom.)
A few months ago a GREAT friend of mine came by for a few days to visit with me and sight see around Fort Lauderdale and Pompano Beach. We had a blast! Went to the beach a couple of times and let the little fishes nibble on her toes (they left me alone for some reason), and I took her out farther to sea than she had ever gone.
Took her on the “obligatory” shopping spree to buy souvinears for her friends and family and had a GREAT time dining and watching a great show at
the Mai-Kai.
She is a great lady, and fun to be with! (I hope she’s having fun back in cold ole California!)
Well, now that I am no longer studying, researching, or writing a dissertation, I have a lot of free time again! So what am I doing with that time?
I’m back to reading and watching (and actually paying attention to) DVDs again! This past week I have read four full length books, three of which were by David Morrell, a VERY good author. I am also in the process of reading three books right now. (Another Morrell book, and two more “business oriented” books.
Up until now I’ve only posted reviews on books on my sidebar there, but going forward, movies that I really liked, or that have received some strongly negative or heavy outside feedback I will probably post on as well. (The Da Vinci Code and The Phantom of the Opera for example.)
All that said, I am seriously thinking of going back to school. Not sure what I’m going to study this time, if I do go for it again, but thinking on it, and trying to think through what I want to get a third Ph.D. in if I do it. Or do I go get another Bachelors or Masters?
