Well, I have said that I am done with school for a while. Not so. I am taking myself through the self study process for getting a CISSP (Certified Information Systems Security Professional) issued. The exam is pretty intense from what I understand, so the study and work to achieve this certification has started as of today! Lots on my schedule, but I feel it’s time to start getting those certifications that will make me even more marketable. After I get the CISSP I will probably go on for other security related certifications as well. I MAY even go on and get my networking credentials as well.

I wish you had said a little bit more about what you are trying to accomplish with your certification. The GIAC series for instance is a bit more role based. Instead of one size fits all, they have one for intrusion detection or firewalls, or forensics and on it goes. http://www.giac.org

    Hello Stephen,

One main reason I am taking the CISSP first is it is more widely accepted and wanted by more employeers. I do plan on taking the GIAC certs as well, but if you look at DoD 8570 it even recommends CISSP over the other test first. The others are then “Gravey” for the main course. GIAC is a good program, and the test are more specific, which I like as well, so I will go that route as well.
