Ok, Santa JUST went across the screen at the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade, and it is now officially, for me, the beginning of the Holiday Season! (Spiritually the Holy Season starts Saturday with the beginning of the Advent Season.)
I am now OK with decorations being up, and with the playing of Christmas music, etc. (Although I could listen to most of the Christmas music year around…)
I do ask that you remember what this season is about though. It is not about giving and receiving gifts, but remembering the birth and life of Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior (for those that believe).
HAPPY HOLIDAYS!

My wife gave me an Amazon Kindle for my birthday:
That arrived yesterday. I plugged her in and charged her up and read her instructions and started playing with her. As soon as I knew I was getting one, I went to the Kindle Store and checked out the free books and some specific books I wanted and acquired about 15 books and had them on my “Kindle for PC”, but didn’t do much with them till last night.
I have to say I’m impressed and happy with this gift! It is light weight, does just about everything we were doing at AV Books, Inc. (although in black and white instead of color, and missing a few key concepts we had at AV Books., Inc.), and is very easy to use.
I’ve already added a few of my own documents to it that I am working on (and I can annotate them and work on them to an extent with the Kindle if I’m “on the road”), and I’ve put some music on it so I can listen to something as I read. Either with the decent speakers that come with it, or with ear buds (buy separate, but who doesn’t have a set or three lying about already?). You can put PDFs, which I will be doing soon, on it as well as audio books and a few other such items.
Now, I do think you will want (I know I do) a case for it:
and if you want to buy me a late birthday gift, or early Christmas gift, please feel free to click the link above and send it to me.
(Comment met with a way to get a hold of ya, and I’ll email you my mailing address.
) Just kidding… Sorta….
One thing I REALLY liked about it is there is a series of books called Summa Theologica which retails for about $155. This is a VERY old transcript written by a “Doctor of the Catholic Church” that is some good, yet hard, reading.
I have wanted this series for a while, but am not able to pay that much for a series of books. Five LARGE volumes.
I was able to buy it for the kindle for $1.05 after tax for the Kindle!
The Kindle was paid for in just this one book series!!
I LOVE IT!!
Thanks Debbie!!

…and I want to double the time off!
Well, my week off form work is all but half over, and I’m already wishing for more time off.
It has been a busy week of traveling to Ohio for a medical appointment to make sure my bad knee, given to me by the US Army, was still bad, and if to see if I could get a bump up in how bad it was (more money, and it is in pain ALL the time these days, gives out often, and I’m in a brace most of the time now), fixing the code behind ExposeYourBlog! and WORKING on getting Surf&Chat back in place (not quite there yet, but getting closer) in a manner that the system doesn’t bog down like it was. I have also been busy cleaning out my dresser, night stand, car, and closet. My wife wants me to clean up my books too, but there is no place to put them, and I’m not wanting to get rid of them…. I have also added more music to my music selection, equalized all the music in my collection so it all comes out with the same volume when it plays, and updated the autoDJ at Radio ExposeYourBlog! today.
Tribal Blogs and ExposeYourBlog! have joined up in partnership in what I think will be great for the blogging community! I look forward to this relationship growing stronger each day! (And if you don’t use either service for your blogs, you should sign up for both, and actively use them!)
Tomorrow I get to go to the dentist for a cleaning, anyone want to go for me? Please? Pretty please?
Busy times. But I’m having fun, and I’m getting some reading in to boot!!
Happy Days! (Till I go back to work Monday…)

Weekend before last, Debbie and I went on a trip to Jenny Wiley State Park in South Kentucky for a Buffalo Feast and an Elk Tour:

Shortly after getting there we met up with our friend Lisa:

and had lunch, then we went for a hike:

In the evening, after a great buffalo dinner, we listened to a Cherokee story teller tells us about his Nation and then a country/folk singer and banjo player:

Jenny Wiley State Park is a nice park around a lake that was fun to visit, and the food was great. The tour of the elk in the area, that were brought there to return elk to one of their natural habitats was very interesting and fun, even if it poured cats and dogs on us! I highly recommend you checking it out if you are in the area!

This past Sunday I had the extreme pleasure to go to a concert put on by Andre Rieu and his Johann Strauss Orchestra.

While I have only been to very few concerts in my life, I very much enjoy most kinds of music, but especially classical and country. Some opera. This concert, by far, was probably the best one I have ever been too. The energy was outstanding, the music great, and the crowd enjoyed it as much as I did it seemed!
This is the first orchestra I have seen that actually smiled all the time, even when they were playing, seemed to know the music without looking at the music in front of them, and were pulling tricks on each other as the show went on. It was great! If you like classical music, and ever have the chance, go see Andre Rieu and his orchestra! You won’t regret it!

Ok, it is WAY too early to be having CHRISTMAS commercials!! Yep, I heard my first one today, for a Christmas play, with the Rockets, to be done down here in Miami in mid November. Just WAY too early for Christmas to start playing on the radio! Let’s get back to the birth of Jesus, and get away from all the buying, etc. And let’s do away with commercializing Christmas so early in the year!
