My ramblings as I move forward in my life Journey.

No More TV!

Ok, after only two months of having TV on here at the apartment, I turned it off on the 7th, only two days after thinking I would do it at the end of the month. For the almost $50.00/month to have cable TV, there was really nothing much on. I did, however, find myself watching the NCIS re-runs (which I hadn’t seen in the first place) every day, which was taking me away from my reading projects, and home grown homework studies in theology and philosophy.

And I don’t miss it at all!! This last six days have been very productive in the evenings, even those days when I had outside events/meetings to go to, when I got home, and I am getting back on track to having my studies and reading done on my “original” schedule.

I can say that TV has gone WAY down hill over the years as to what is shown and how it is put together. (Now, mind you, on the TV I have, the picture is OUTSTANDING, which kinda helps in the viewing!) The cinematography is often weak, especially comparing it to times long past, and that is with the better technology today! You would think it would be OUTSTANDING now. It isn’t.

When I bought my TV back in August, I also picked up a BlueRay player. WOW, that picture is GREAT!! Almost 3d in appearance when watching a BlueRay movie! Now to find CHEAPER BlueRay movies!! WOW, they are expensive!

I will probably continue to watch movies on the TV, via the BlueRay/DVD player, but I intend to cut WAY back on that as well, and have done good in that area this past 6 days as well!

TV Today…

Living in a small apartment by myself with no TV and just a small DVD (and I mean small) player and a Zune music device got kinda quiet and boring at times. So, after not owning a TV in several years, and mainly being interested in movies, I decided to buy a larger TV (32″ LED HD screen, VERY NICE!) and a BlueRay DVD player, with Internet access.

I also added Cable TV. Not sure why I did that though… TV still stinks, badly… And the commercials!! That get worse each year it seems! I may have to turn off the Cable soon, as I just don’t like watching TV (now I LOVE watching movies, without commercials) for the most part…

Now, the TV and BlueRay are great! With the HDMI cable, BlueRay disks put out great pictures! (I only have two BlueRay disk right now, but…) And regular DVDs look pretty good too! VERY sharp!

David Carradine : 1936 – 2009

It is with sad heart that I announce the passing of David Carradine:

David Carradine

Mr. Carradine was, to me, a great actor and he became a great Martial Artist over the years as well. I enjoyed his TV series, movies and shows that he did. He was a key player in people going into martial arts in the 1970s as well.

Mr. Carradine, my hat off to you!! Rest in Peace!

Our Press and media!!??

Ok, I haven’t been watching much TV for the past 10 or 15 years, unless I’m staying at someone’s house and they have it on, or when I’m at the gym (which has TVs in front of the treadmills that I use), etc.

In the last 4 weeks I have been watching CNN and local news when on the treadmills. 99% of the news I have seen politically has been on Obama, and ONLY in a favorable way. And I mean hours and hours of it! They tell us VERY little about his past, very little about the negative things in his life, etc.

Now, on the other hand, just about the only things I’ve seen on the McCain side have been all of the bad things about him. And in two cases, those “bad” things were 100% wrong. Same with Polin, all bad and speculation with no foundation.

I have seen 100 ads (I counted!!) from the Obama court to every 3 McCain ads. Is it because McCain isn’t buying ads, or is it because the press and media is only putting them up when they have to?

What happened (if it was ever so) to the Press and public medias being a place to get UNBIASED reporting on the FACTS and not posting an internal agenda?

Let’s get to posting facts, figures, and 100% verifiable information on BOTH candidates and their running mates, not speculation, innuendos, lies, etc. And for equal amounts of time on the air and in the papers! Both good and bad info on these folks, so we can make a REAL decision based on fact and not slanted mis-information!

World Event “NO” press!?

I’m VERY surprised at the lack of TV coverage of the events in Asia right now! Yes, there is SOME coverage, but this should be all over the screen!!

This is the worse earthquake in over 40 years, and the biggest Tsunami in many more years! As of this AM there are about 70K people confirmed dead, and many thousands more still listed as missing!

I personally think this event is bigger than 9/11 and should have strong coverage so we know what is going on!! Yes, 9/11 was a terrorist act, and needed coverage too, and so should this, which is a “natural” event!

Wake up Press, get on the job!!
